My Life In Thirty Seconds
by Robert Drake
As a life-long fan of all styles of music, I am currently knee-deep in black female vocalists - and I have a major weakness for **ALL THINGS NEW WAVE!**

I have a special place for Portishead, Lene Lovich, Maria Callas, Bjork, Kristin Hersh, Placebo, Tears for Fears, Aretha, Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave, Marc Almond, J.B. Lenoir, most Astralwerks artists, 40s swing, anything on the Okeh or Chess label, and some rare classic disco.
I have lived in Center City Philadelphia for some time. I love living in this city and I continue to find cool places to explore. As for watering holes, I am proud to call Tattooed Mom my home and love to get a little Fast Cheap & Out of Control Sunday nights!
I've worked in media for 20+ years, and in radio since '88, at WXPN-FM, where I produce Kids Corner, a daily radio program for kids(!) we actually won a Peabody Award ... go figure! I also host/produce Q'zine - a queer arts and culture magazine in Philly.
Besides that, I write poetry, read often and talk (and listen) with a passion. I also am a big fan for discovering new places to dine out in the city, complete with good conversation :) I've been in the nightlife scene since 1978 and loved almost every moment (everyone has a few moments they wish they could erase - haha!)
From dancing at Danceteria and The Anvil in NYC, to spinning at Philly's Kennel Club and Love Club, to catching some powerful live acts at the East Side Club and Ripley's or Revival - just watching the collapse of one scene and the rise of another!
It's been quite a trip so far! Hope to see you out and about SOON!
